I am looking for a yard platt for San Marcial New Mexico.... I know that there was a round house, and I think an engine shop.. the town was wiped out by a flood in the mid 20's. I have seen on the RH Crump website that they have platts, but the site seems to be out of service. Thanks
Platt maps should be kept in the Office of the County Recorder for Socorro County. You would probably have to visit their office to see if they have the map you want. There are also the Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps, which I have found helpful. The Library of Congress does have some of San Marcial, but you would have to contact them to see about getting copies: http://www.loc.gov/rr/geogmap/sanborn/city.php?City=San%20Marcial&State=New%20Mexico Hope this helps. Good luck in your research.
I was absolutely stunned to find out that the Winslow Historical Society has a lot of the 1917 Valuation Maps now online - much of the Albuquerque Div. main line at least. You might want to try here: Arizona Memory Project : Browse Good luck and good hunting! There's so much stuff in here it took me about an hour to find the Third District maps. There's a thumbnail viewer so you can zoom into an area once you find it to enlarge it big enough for detailed information.
