Here is a photo of SMV 205, restored to operation over many years by George Lavacot, being accepted at the Albany and Eastern where she will operate. George is at the far left of the photo with the grey beard. I got the photo off another site and it was posted there by WestinAshar. I didn't get his permission.
glad to see this loco is alive and well. I saw a picture of her running light in the street on a Facebook group this week
No, Kurt I was not there. Tough for me to travel any more. I hope to be able to go ride behind her some day, as I witnessed a lot of her restoration. George did a great job.
I do not know all of the history of 205, but looking up Santa Maria Valley RR it shows the loco built in 1924, acquired by SMV in 1933, retired in 1950. Then George Lavacot aquired her, not sure when, and he spent years restoring her to operation in Independence, OR.
I have seen videos and heard reports from other steam fans that she sounds as square as square can be, and she does. I wish I had a shot of her after she got all trimmed and painted, but the videos I have seen certainly show her beauty.
I don't participate in youtube or other social media. I'm sure they have some sort of search function. There are photos on the TrainOrders website.
I answered my own question. Friends of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad http://www.friends-smvrr.org/history.html
