has anybody ever scratch built a sd45 UP roof mounted ping pong table for the roof of a nscale UP/sd45 with lococontrol electrics?
I looked through a few UP SD45 pics on the net and couldn't find any with this roof plate. If I can get some decent photos this might make it as a detail part. Also, I read on a site that the cab control box was moved behind the engineers side of the cab. Is this sort of like the cab signal box's on the Conrail units? Craig, you were at the UP details site, right? I couldn't find any pics of any SD45s much less with the ground planes on the internet! There has to be some somewhere though. If you are serious though, the March/April issue of Diesel Era(vol 11-2) has an article on the UP SD45s. (i'm looking at the issue at this very second) They have 11 photos with the ground planes, but i don't know if they are good enough to produce a part from. They should be okay for modeling though.

UP put them on most of their 50 sd45 from the late sixties till they retired most of them----the electrical box apparently would sit on walkway behind the firemans side of engine---the platform with 2-tin can attennas went on the roof
Craig-This roof plate would be a great addition to your parts dept. Does anybody make the winterization hatch like the UP used on their E units. John ------------------ John Nutt Des Moines, IA contractrental@uswest.net
I love roof details! So I am pleased I model BNSF, so I can add the roof details on the old Santa Fe blue and yellow units Does anyone have any photos of these UP bits they could post? ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.ac-models.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery
Has anyone found a picture of this yet? I really am interested in doing this part if I can get a couple of good pictures. Thanks! ------------------ Craig Martyn Best Looking Models Around Custom detailing AND N scale detail parts. BLMA N Scale Detail Parts BLMAinfo@aol.com
