The EMD SD70M-2 demo units have been on the NS for a while, although I have still not caught them yet Anyway, since NS has ordered 52 of them, you can see the unit and imagine what they'll look like painted in NS. (I don't think any have been actually built yet.) http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=110757 Harold
EMDX 75 and 76 will be testing on FEC for the month of August 2005, after that not sure where they will be going.
Nordicus, welcome to Trainboard! I had not realised there were any '-2' SD70's! What are the differences?
even if they did use the dash designations, they wouldn't be dash 2's that's getting a bit long in the tooth these days, either that, they are using them and it is something that the new EMD has started.
had a look on the EMD website, they are designated SD70M-2, might be a reference to EPA Tier emissions standards.
Sten, you are right (as I understand it) SD70M-2 is for the Tier 2 compliant DC versions of the SD70, while the SD70ACe is the AC version. Harold
Nordicus, Welcome aboard! Good luck catching the demos on FEC! They should dwarf the FEC's power Harold
Hey nordicus, Another railfan caught your demos on FEC: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=114722 Harold
