I'm trying to link together the numbering change sequences for each of the original SD9's, (from the 5330+ numbers through the 3800+ numbers and on to the rebuilt 4300+ series.) I've been able to find hodge-podge information, but it's slow in coming. Is there a source online that will have it all in one place?

Yes, Richards site is pretty comprehensive. Check it out!

    Espee Numbers

There are the two Southern Pacific Compendiums by Joe Strapac. Shade Tree Books.
These are a must for anyone needing numbers and history of Espee's locomotives in the diesel era.

Try looking at http://sptco.proboards.com and look in the SP roster section. They have unit by unit information listed by model. Interesting stuff IMO.

Thanks for the replies, expecially that link the the sptco forum. I was aware of the ESPEE site (it's about my favorite), but haven't been able to find what I'm looking for there. So far I think I've got the 5300 series numbers all tied to the 3800 series with frame numbers, but have only gotten about thirty or forty of the 3800's tied to 4300 series numbers. Most of the information I've gotten has been from railroad picture websites where the poster of the picture has provided the frame number and more than one locomotive number.

I'll have to check out the Strapac book, sounds good.
