Got a question about the 7410 Class Santa Fe (or former) B40-8's.
According to BNSF, they are supposed to be renumbered to the 8600 class.
While most if not all of the former Santa Fe locomotives have been renumbered either fully or just with patches, this class has not.
Is BNSF planning on dumping these, or are they just behind on the renumbering/painting??

I haven't heard any talk of getting rid of these and they are still a "new" Loco. I doubt these will be disappearing any time soon. I expect the SD-40/40-2's to go before them.

I do have a shot of one of these with a patch job. I cannot recall at the moment what the number is for sure (8615?). I shot the locomotive in North Dakota of all places. I can dig through the slides if you want me to confirm the number.

    Yes, Please.
Confirm the number for me. I saw two of these units today (got caught at crossing and my passengers were NOT happy about that), 7415 and 7421 I think. They roared thru the crossing at State Street in Marysville this morning.

    Eureka!!!

I have an April 2000 shot of the BNSF 8626 in Moorhead, MN. The loco was the trailing unit on a southbound freight. According to the 1995 BNSF Annual, this is the former ATSF 7436. The GE was still in blue and yellow........for now.......

    Interwest,

The photo is actually in slide form. I have no means to scan it. I will have a print made for you and send it via snail mail if you will e-mail me your address. I can scan the print and post it for everyone else.

Just saw another renumbered B40-8 go by not more than two minutes ago. BNSF 8632 was the trailing unit as the M-FARLIN-09 rolled through Wahpeton, ND at 1530. Did not get a shot of it as I was at work without a camera.

LIN is Lincoln, NE.. What is FAR? Fargo? They have a yard in Fargo? The only principal yard I knew of in ND was at Minot... I could be wrong. Someone?
