I'm surprised you found someone who knew about Burlington Northern, but not about the merger. I mean, I would not be shocked in the least to find random people who knew there was a railroad called the Santa Fe. Heck, it has songs written about it, but Burlington Northern? CB&Q yes, NP,GN, yes, but BN? Maybe it's just a function of living In Illinois where there are communters on BN tracks into Chicago every day. I wonder if they know that the UP gobbled up the C&NW?
YoHo, Yeah I know I think it's the local news like WGN radio and our local Rockford stations, they still refer to the BNSf tracks as BN or the old timers just call it the Burlington. Now our local weather guy, he is a railfan so when ever ther is a story about Rochelle he knows to call the road BNSF:teeth:
