Hey everyone, I really appreciate all of the help that all of you here on trainbaord offer. If you don't mind showing some switching layouts so that I can get some ideas of where to start, that would be great. Happy modeling!
Welcome to TrainBoard I consider my layout as a switching layout, others may not. The track plan can be seen on the railroads website. Gary
I am currently building one that is an Atlas SnapTrack (code 83) version of the Pike City Belt Line published by Model Railroader. It is 8' x 12' in size. The peninsula will have a scenic divider (double sided backdrop) down the middle to separate the yard and the industries into different scenes. Here is the trackplan:
Well, my layout is not small. But the main focus is switching. There're three industrial districts with a lot of switching. The most scenery has Third Street Industrial District. Wolfgang
Mine is actually a model of a steelworks. But that basically involves a whole bunch of switching, so I think it probably qualifies Oh, it's HO and 8ft x 8ft & 2ft wide.
Thanks so far to everyone. Like I said I'm just trying to collect some ideas. Everything is a real help.
The layout here isn't a switching layout but I operate it as one. Continious run is possible but I operate like a shortline/branchline. Attached are some photos of the yard, industrial park and Hastings.
