4913 & 4917 enter the Yard Lead on the Sun-N-Sand NTrak layout:

I can think of several places in the crowded urban environment of some Eastern US cities where entire major streets, intersections, even buildings are built over the tracks on massive concrete structures.

While this photo is actually the East tunnel portal on the Buffalo Ranch module, the train is entering the Yard Lead, and it reminds me of inner city structures like this in Baltimore and the District of Columbia.

Great shots LongTrain! Everytime you post, you have some motive power I have not seen before. To have a collection that big...... ;)

    Hey Bob

The CNSIG has many articles on the GTW. Without doubt one of the best groups around. They publish a magazine at least quarterly and they have many articles and pictures of the GTW. As a subsiduary of CN many things were shared between the two roads. If you are not familiar with this organization I strongly suggest you have a look

Some good pics on that site Dan. I have always liked the blue GTW scheme. (It was the first US road I saw when travelling on the "International" from Toronto to Flint, MI.)

Thanks, MC....I don't really have that much considering I started accumulating it back in the 1960's.

Are you seeing some compositions similar to your own shots?

I enjoyed looking through your pix because you saw things on our layout that I had not considered. I was careful not to copy yours exactly, but if some of them look a little familiar, it is because thy were inspired by yours.

With the George's Gorge modules, there just seemed to be plenty of shooting opportunities. I wish I had better placement with the tunnel shots like you did. Excellent work again!

LongTrain, looks like you're getting *really good* at faking out that Nikon Coolpix digital camera's force-you-to-automatic-mode. Congrats. Can't wait to see what you come up with someday when you have a digital camera that allows you to use your previous photography aperature/shutter speed skills again.

Here are the two trains I was running the night of 12/22 - the GT GP9's and a pair of CN C628's. The photo isn't great - poor DOF. It does show both trains stretched out, but compressed by telephoto effect:

    Hello!

I know this is an N scale forum, but i stumbled on this thread and i'm a BIG GTW FAN so I thought I'd post some images shot on my modular HiRail O Scale club layout.

Also, I'm a GTW Historical Society Member so I may be able to answer a few questions if you have them. (like the one someone asked regarding the blue paint scheme, which originated in the early 70's as a way to distinguish the GTW from it's parent CN and to give it a more "american" identity)

    Enjoy!

Those Hi rail units look great, thanks for posting.

About the early seventies scheme... 1972? I may have to procure a pair of this if that is so. I've always loved that scheme but never really knew much about GTW.

GTW had a line into chicago right?

    Thanks, Geeky
