Picture is of GCFX 6079 (SD40-3) and CN 5502 (SD60F) leading a 102 car CN train #104 at MP 264 Kingston sub. 2005/01/21 12:10 (Cobourg) This is the paint scheme that I've seen in this area - the centre section is lettered "GEC Alstrom". you sure you got that CN number right for the covered wagon [draper taper]... the only ones from emd cn has are 5400's [sd50's] and 5500's [sd60's]. cn's sd70/75's are 5600-5800... I guess we can use this thread for our interesting sightings. Today I saw two westward bound trains, heading into Saskatoon. They both had CN leaders, but the first train had a second BNSF engine (with the new initials). The second one had a BCrail follower, not too uncommon, but still a nice change from the dirty black, white, red of CN
According to the "bible" ( Trackside Guide) 6079 is to be renumbered WC 6949. There are 50 of these AMF Technotransport rebuilds owned by Connell Finance and leased to CN. The renumbering started in July 2003. Obviously this unit has not been home long enough to be done.
