    Facebook feed today.

9 News had a story on the news this morning that Winter Park wants train service restored so looks like there's a chance of the return of the Ski Train!!! Looks like Amtrak and UP are going to handle the specifics and the equipment. Be neat of UP used some of it's Heritage Fleet for it if all goes well.

    From the 9 News website.

DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - The Winter Park Ski Train is a step closer to returning after the Colorado Transportation Commission awarded the ski resort a $1.5 million grant Thursday to build a boarding platform and install rail improvements

This money won’t re-start the train, which ran from Denver Union Station to Winter Park from 1940 through 2009. But it will allow resort officials to make repairs needed to continue negotiations with Union Pacific and Amtrak in order to attempt to relaunch service in 2017, according to U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet.

If they can re-start, it will be interesting to see what equipment might be used.

Thought I saw something that said they probably use a couple of P-42 and
Superliner cars. I'll have to search again and see what I can find.

    Other Facebook information:

From what I have heard, the consist will be two P42's, and eight or so Coach Superliners. The train will have a "station" at the spur by West portal, they would build a flyover. As far as operations, I'd expect the schedule to be similar to what the old ski train was.
