    Good Morning-

For the second weekend in a row, UP 1989 (the Rio Grande Heritage Unit) is leading the Ansco Ski Train west out of Denver to Winter Park on the Moffat Tunnel Subdivision.

I had to work today (being Friday and all), but I did take a brief detour to Plain on my way in to Boulder. The clouds were not exactly cooperating and there was a lot of fog in the metro area, but it could have been worse I suppose.

Attached is a shot of the train heading west through the siding at Plain, preparing to meet with an eastbound coal load that was around Tunnel 10 at the time of this picture.

There are also three shots (this one and two more) on my website. Enjoy! And TGIF....

I wish they would/could make the 1989 permanent power for the Ski Train. It just looks so right. They could lighten up the grey on they nose a little and it would be a perfect match.

Maybe I can get out this weekend and catch it. Maybe on the Winter Park side.

Sometimes you just gotta bite yer lip, and chalk it up to mountain weather. I know, many times the clouds have skunked me of great shots, sometimes minutes or seconds before the train arrived...
I'm jealous, quite frankly! This shot rocks, sun or not:

That's a whale of a long shot, what model 75-300mm lens did you use?

    Thanks for the comment J!

My favorite lens isn't even Canon, believe it or not! I have a wonderful 28-300mm Tamaron lens that I've used for two years now. When I have a bit more saved up in the bank I'll probably get an L-Series or two. But for now, the Tamaron serves me well.

Great Shots, Kevin! I kinda like the shot with the train engulfed in fog. Can't make out the heritage unit real well but the back lighting is cool! I hope to get out tomorrow. Last weekend would have been better, but was way too busy. Good luck if you make it out this weekend. Any ideas as to where you will head?

Hoping to make the run up tomorrow AM, after getting off work!
I'm aiming for either the Hwy 72 bridge, Plainview or farther west at Pinecliff. Would love to catch up with anyone else in the area that might be out and about!

As long as the 1989 is still on point and the train makes the run.
DRGW list has mention of a possible derail at Tolland. Broken rail.
2 locomotives on the ground, but standing upright.

DRGW list member Wes Cox and I chased down the Ski Train yesterday.
Got a few photos from Plainview. Not the greatest though. Trying out Moms new camera on this trip!

Did get some though, after arriving Winter Park. Parked in siding at Frasier.

Time for a photo plug!
Have supplied several other photos as well, this is just the most recent!

Now, if you thought the small version was good, I have an update!
How about the same pic as an 11x17 laminated placemat??:D

I provided Joe at Toltec Images a copy of the same photo.

Well, got an Email Monday night, stating Nice pic! Also said he'd have a copy to me before leaving for next show Wednesday.

Wednesday afternoon, I recieved my copy!!

Will be readily available from Toltec Images in the near future.
Think Joe will be updating website after he returns from current show trip.
