Does anyone know the status of the negotiations between Amtrak and N/S related to initiating service with the Skyline Connection ? Latest I heard , negotiations were "stalled". Did N/S reject the latest Amtrak financial offer ? What WAS the Amtrak offer ? What is N/S requesting ? Is there any chance the new service will EVER initiate ?
Sorry I can't help you here. Being from the west coast we don't hear much from east of the Mississippi. But if it is like any other new train that is trying to make a first step the only way it will happen is if the N/S, in this case probably gets lots of money for upgrades and such. And Amtrak won't and dosen't have the money to give to do a new train unless they are forced to by congress or some other government body. Just becuase there is a strong public want of a new train means Buckiss unless someone is willing to spend the $$$$$$$$$$. This is the state of todays railroad they are run as any other buisness, the mighty dollar is at the top of everyones mind on everything.
