Oops SHHHH.... Don't tell them they were suppose to paint the engine. :embarassed: Now we can hope for a caboose comeback. Right?:shade:
Cabooses are still used on the local trains as a switching platform for long reverse moves. It gives the conductor a safer place to ride then hanging off the side of a box car.
They couldn't paint it BNSF because there is no caboose paint scheme for that. They had to paint it BN. :teeth:
Seems like the most logical answer to me. Of course there is the Frisco, Great Northern, Northern Pacific, CB&Q, and Spokane & Washington schemes But I am very pleased with the BN livery
According to the "BN Caboose Book" by Robert Del Grosso it was built in 9/75 as BN #12081 and rebuilt in 6/90 as BN #12508.
