N scalers of the world, yes, it's time again for the greatest thread in N scaledom, so show us whatcha got!
SNFF 6 20 04 From the same vantage point on a hill, it's interesting to see what the motive power progression looks like as time goes on. Taken from the same spot on a hill 20 (virtual model railroading) years apart, we see the following on the Santa Fe. July 1947: a brand new set of Santa Fe PA-1s leads the 'Grand Canyon' in the high desert of Arizona: ========== July 1955: the fantasy Santa Fe Super Trainmaster leads a string of Santa Fe ice reefers. Produce shipment via railroad to the East Coast is in full stride: ========== July 1967: Three Santa Fe SD24's lead a string of Santa Fe ice reefers. Produce shipment to the East Coast by railroad is still significant, but in its waning years:
This is the Backshops for the RGW. The wheel shop door way. the ice house is to the right, Chutes for coal for the boilers. Loco on overhead crane.
John, the detail in that scene is terrific! VARR, I that reverse-SP scheme still has some rrom to grow on me but I love your box car scheme! Mr Sing (in the bath LOL) - love that progression! (I'm having a friend add some cast details, like the ATSF numberboards over the cab.) Flash is in Tokyo but asked me to post this in his absence...
This last week I worked on my weathering technics with this Walthers coil car. Weathering was done with acrylics, and chalks. I think a light dusting with an airbrush will complete it!
Great stuff so far tonight. The VAR rolling stock and engine look like they really should be out there in real life somewhere. The D&RG shops are some awsome kit bashing of some classic kits. The coiled steel car looks about right for the real deal. I always like the shots along the Peavine. I don't have anything new tonight. Here is an oldy. [ 21. Hope you all don't mind a protophoto tonight. I took this last evening during one of my,"wonder where this road goes?" excursions. The road crosses high above a long cut. Other people must use this spot because there are several lens diameter size holes cut out of the chain link that secures the overpass.
Sunday night is still young and we already have some great work! John, as always, fabulous work. It's hard to believe that your layout is only 4'x4'! Jerry, nice weathering job! Overshoe, that's a really nice engine area! I'm am always envious of the talent of the people on SNFF...keep it up!
This is my submission for this week. My latest motive power additions. Hope to do more in scenery dep't in the near future!
Finished Bluefield car shops exterior and weathered track to get ready for ballast. Also hooked up new Digitrax DCC system I got for my birthday. And for fathers day got a new digital camera. It has been a great June. Dan
These photos are old, but haven't been on the 'net in ages. They're of my freelanced Gas-Electric built on an old Rapido FP9 mechanism: and
