    Hi Dave.

I used EnviroTex Light. Put a bit of green paint in to tint and that seems to add a bit of depth especially around the bridge supports.

I must say, for never doing this before, I think it looks damn good. Oh, can I say that here?

Just had to put up one more, I like the water that much.

A U50 moves past the kids softball field as a C-628 makes it way over the causeway.

There's a little update on my logging layout. Did some work at the log unloading area.

Here's an overview of half the layout.

Looks like the loggers got to the trees already

    Sitchad,
can you describe your water process in more detail? How did you prepare the area before pouring? what color did you paint the surface? Also, the water has a bit of a wave which I like. Did you have to do anything to achieve this or did you just pour and walk away? Also, how many coats and how thick?
    thanks,
    HuskerN

I actually made the lake and steam flowing into the lake deeper then then what I have read you should. I cut the foam to shape the contour of the bottom. The deepest part is about 3/8".

Started by painting the bottom dark green changing to lighter as I moved to the shoreline. Added some rocks to the bottom, painted also then ground foam of soil in the middle and grass at the shoreline. Added more rocks to the banks and under bridges, broken tree limbs and stumps to the banks.

Once I got it to look the way I thought it should be I was ready for the pour. Used EnviroTex Light, a 1 quart kit and mixed the entire kit. Added dark green paint to tint the water a bit.

Then just poured away. Did the entire pour at one time. After all was poured, I used a lighter to pop air bubbles as they came to the surface. The stuff found it's own level and actually it went pretty well.

It does give off a bunch of heat as it cures, I could see smoke or steam raising from the lake during the first hour or so. As for the waves, I did nothing, I think it was due to the irregular contour of the bottom.

After getting the bubbles out, I covered it with plastic to keep dust off, plastic not touching the water, for a couple of hours then let it cure overnight. This morning it is dry and really looks rather good.

This was very much beginners luck.

    Great shots, all.

Recycling some previous SNFF shots (some same, some different than what I posted over on RailWire):

    This was over on Railwire:

Better late than never...Here's some shots I took late this afternoon of my pRR F1a Mogul, built from an MDC Roundhouse 2-6-0. I know the driver spacing isn't right, but all in all I think is comes pretty close:

Just got back from a business trip to Germany. This might be a candidate for a new Randy or Chris project - my guess is it's not much longer tan about 25-30 feet. Apparently it was used for a short line leading to one of the peaks on the German-Austrian border.

And here's one of their average commuter-type trains in Kochen-am-See in Bavaria.

Cab-Forward 4294 brings mixed freight (it's there, really!) into Colfax on the way up "The Hill".

Taken on my NTrak module set. Latest word is these modules will be somewhere near the New River Gorge at Chantilly (truly bi-coastal!).
