I went out and bought the Lionel Northwest Freight set. Everything works fine, but I'm a bit puzzled by the train sounds on the locomotive. I've turned the horn on and off,but the book says there's a volume knob. I looked on the locomotive where the diagram suggested and saw no knob of any kind.Does anyone else here know anything about it? I wanna enjoy some sound! :)

This O scale stuff seems kinda fun. :D

I can't help with your sound question...

But I have many fond memories from my youth. Then later years of collecting and operating. The temptation is always there....

O gauge is pretty tempting. I love N scale for what you can do with it,but I've realized that when it comes down to the tiny details(people/whatnot) I'm probably going to lose patience with things.

I'm a bit confused at the moment though,of which scale I want to do.

Look for a screw that has an arrow. The arrow indicates the volume and which direction to turn the screw to increase said volume.

Like others here I dabble in several scales. My home layout is N Scale but every chance I get you can find me working on a friends O and S Scale layouts. Lot's of fun to run but my ears ring after running all the loud locomotives. Everytime I turn the sound down you know who turns it back-up. Ouch!

There are a lot of rewards and fun to be had. Enjoy!
