I started building a layout for Christmas (yes, I know its early) but got side-tracked when I decided to place my buildings and trains on the layout board. Most of these are scratch builds you may have seen, but here they are clustered into a "town".
That is a boxcar/shack that my 11 year old built. It is a kit build and great for a first model, very kid friendly
John; It looks great, as I expected. I love the little station platform. What kind of track are you using? Is that HO E-Z track? The rerailer/feeder looks like my N scale Bachmann track. I actually use Unitrack, but I have two ovals of B'mann E-Z that came with sets I bought. I guess I'd better get started on my Christmas layout. It's not early for me... its going to be a series of how-tos for beginners on my About.com site. Best! Randall
Hey Randall, Yes it is Bachmann E-Z track from two "train sets" a Christmas one and a Colorado and Southern one. Since I will be using different track for my "real" layout I had to put the EZ track to good use. Hey, I look forward to seeing your Christmas "How To" articles. There was a really good Christmas layout building article in O scale train magazine last December. Check it out if you can get the issue (if not I will gladly send you my copy or copy the article for you, just PM me).
Yep, Bachmann. In fact, if one looks at this kit and then looks at their On30 work car set (bunk, kitchen etc.) they are from this same mold. You can pick these up cheap on EBay and there always seems to be a lot of them listed. Since Sean built it I now have on the plan book a lesson in weathering for him...
The Bachmann camp cars were what came into mind, when I was thinking of asking. Perhaps it was how the bottoms of the siding boards are detailed to show age? Boxcab E50
Yep...all from the same mold. I think this model has been around for some time as there are "vintage" versions being sold at auction as well.
