B&O andI believe New York Central were the first 2 eastern railroads to have the Intersol-Rand "Boxcabs" The B&O's I know for sure was numbered 195 when first made and then was renumbered to I believe 5000 or 8000, I'm not sure of the renumber numeral.... But it was the second one on the east coast. Being NYC had the first. and the B&O's was or still is at the Mt. Clare Baltimore at the railroad museum the last time I knew of it.. I'm not even sure if it still resides their or not....

As for modeling.. The one that MDC "Roundhouse" makes is a nicely detailed kit, I have one, eeer or well 3 actually. One of my 3 is modeled for the original one the B&O had as the original numbering of 195, the other 2 are powered track cleaners, one with non-powered rotor cleaner heads and the other is a kit that was bought at a train show by a friend and given to me as a get well gift a few years ago that has powered spinning cleaner heads that rotate by the motor and is also self propelled by the same motor... But off the top of my head I can't say who made it. I think it was a retro kit for the MDC kit to take the MDC box cab and turn it into a self propelled track cleaner.... But I modeled the 2 track cleaners for MOW, one in B&O and the other in Western Maryland and then as I've said I got the regular powered Box Cab diesel, thats the B&O's #195.

Russ, I made a big old "can" light out of a piece of plexiglass. We can say that "SR&WF bought it from e.g. AT&SF when they modernised an old Big Boy :D "

The "Stiesel" also got a horn, and a radio antenna on the roof.

Thanks for posting my photo Russ. :D

This above photo is of The Norfolk and Westerns' first attempt to change over to diesels at the early transistion period from diesel to steam. This J4FD was powered by an RS2 chassis and unfortunately, although it was a nice looking piece of equipment, the RS2 diesel power was insufficient to supply the speed required for a fast corridor passenger train. However, it was a smooth running piece of equipment and it was soon discovered that this diesel powered unit was far easier on the roadbed than the pounding drivers of a normal big 4-8-4. Unfortunately, as it was lacking the speed required for passenger service, it was the only unit ever built and even today most oldtime steam affiacondos still decree that it was the best looking diesel ever produced. ;)
