I have an interest in modeling a SOO wood reefer which I saw in a photo somewhere (but can't locate now). It was a 40' ice version, wood sides. Need answers to the followng:
    (1) Wood roof and ends painted boxcar red?
    (2) Did any such wood cars use steel roofs/ends?
    (3) Number series? Capacity/load limit?
    (4) Most reefers were leased: What was the X-line
    (GARX, URTX, etc.)?
    (5) Additional lettering for those cars ("Union Refrigerator Line" etc., for example) - placement and wording?
    Thanks for any help.

    James-

Somewhere, I have a poor view of one. Am unable to locate it. The few Soo Line that I can remember, were URTX. My mind is saying that the ends and roof were a dark color. But what? No extra lettering beyond the URTX initials, and Soo $ logo.

Wish that I could be of greater help.

James, your best bet here would be to join the Yahoo! Soo Line History list and post your questions there. If anyone knows, or knows anyone who does, they will be the group to ask.
Also, add the time span these cars operating in to the questions - there may be more than one series of 40' wood reefer you are dealing with.

    Hope this helps.
