Have done a search for Soo Line sites & come up with only one. Can anyone direct me to any other Soo Line sites?Mainly for photo/painting reference,ta.
How about a painting guide published by the Soo Line Technical and Historical Society?? It is a SD40 but all repaints were the same. No SD40-2's were delivered in Candy Apple Red. http://www.sooline.org/publications/drawings/locomotives/SD40_SD402/750.gif [ October 30, 2005, 05:30 PM: Message edited by: Gats ]
Hi, Am a new member and am interested in the Soo Line history...My g-grandfather was a brakeman for the Soo in 1894, and was killed in a railroad accident near Almena, WI. on aug. 19, 1894. Only information I can find was in some newspaper articles of the time of the accident. Would anyone have any other ideas on where to look for further information? Apparently his widow rec'd. $1000 from the "brotherhood" after his death.
Linda C- Welcome To TrainBoard! We do also have a Soo Line Forum in our Fallen Flags area. Take a quick look over there. We'd love to see more activity! Boxcab E50
Welcome to TrainBoard!!!!!!! If the information you are looking for can be found the odds are someone around here will know...
Welcome to TrainBoard, Linda. For Soo historical information, I would contact the Soo Line Historical and Technical Society - www.sooline.org - as a first step. Next, is a very active Yahoo! group dedicated to Soo Line history that have quite a few knowledgeable members. If they don't have access to the information, they will either know someone who could help or be able to point you in the right direction. You will need to join Yahoo! if you are not already a member in order to join the group or contact the list owner - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SooLineHistory/ Hope this is of help.
