CP train # 428 2005-06-03 with SOO SD60 #6602, CP SD40-2 #5819 and CP AC4400CW #9621 pull this 85 car train at Newtonville.
Here's another not so great shot of a SOO unit in Columbia SC. This one was on the CSX. As you can probably tell, it was raining and close to dark when I came across this train. Wish I could have caught it in the sun.
The new red scheme looks ok, but I prefer the white/red. Saw some in white several years ago in Sault Ste. Marie, Mi. Thanks for the pics.
That image is really cool! Were those units pulling a gravel train by any chance? The reason I ask is that I saw those two exact units at the Martin Marietta gravel quarry by my house in Augusta, GA about 1 week ago.
Gumbytrain, These units were indeed pulling what appeared to be a gravel train. I saw them on July 14th.
Here are two more shots of the 6028 near my house in Augusta, GA. This is the spur to the Martin-Marietta quarry. Sorry for the blur - I was shooting through the window of my car while driving over the very rough grade crossing .
This isn't loco related, but Yesterday I was heading from My parent's house to O'Hare and was stopped on River road by First a Metra commuter (with one o them fancy new MP-36s) then almost immediatly behind it, a very short Local with GP-40 (I think) in CP colors on front, but here's the kicker, a shiney very very clean White and Red SOO Caboose. I mean it looked freshly repainted. Wish I had had the camera.
What is the status of Soo units? As shop work occurs, are they being repainted to CP colors? Or are they all being kept in full Soo dress? Boxcab E50
CP train 241 today 16:00 at Cobourg with 96 cars. SOO 6042 (EMD SD60) and SOO 6002 (GMD SD60). -------------------------------- CP train #122 expressway today 13:15 at Cobourg with 44 cars. SOO 6012 (EMD SD60) and SOO 6031 (GMD SD60) Notice how the GMD units are doing most of the work.
I am doing a thesis project for Interior Design on a model train museum in Toronto. Does anyone have any insight as to what would make the museum unique?
