Posting this under Southern because I know modellers of railroads in the "Southeastern Coastal Six" (Virginia, N, Carolina, S. Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Alabama) probably review its' entries.

My question is; How many modelers follow which railroads in those 6 states. We know that there are of course modellers for ACL/SAL/SOU, C&O, N&W, Frisco, L&N - but what of other roads? FEC, TA&G, the "old" N-S, A&R, AN or others. Heck, even free-lanced roads based on any of these or others I may have missed would be interesting.

im building one right now based on the First Coast Railroad (started last weekend) however, im enacting the modelers' right to change it up a little. I really dont like the orange scheme thanks to G&W but instead im calling it the First Coast & Southern and the paint will be based on the Southern Ry green, gold, and white.

Working on planning two different things. The first is the old trolley line in Charleston, SC. That would be Charleston City Railway or maybe a later incarnation. Next, in part thanks to you, I am collecting material for Seaboard Air Line through the SC Lowcountry, most notably the Boll Weevil doodlebug and local freights.

Hate to admit it, but I had to look up the First Coast. Looks like it's one of the old SAL lines from Fernandina Beach to Kingsland, GA. Well, the last time I visited relatives in Palatka, FL in 1954!! that was Southern's furthest extension into Florida and all their engines at that time were green and white.

CarnellM - I never really looked into the Charleston Trolley (S.C.E.&G.) lines, but a fine gentlemen that I did work with (sadly deceased) was a big fan of same. Have no idea of where his material went.

Ah, the Boll Weevil, my little passenger train of fond recall. Unless done in brass, don't think there'll ever be models of 2027/2028 made. My solution was to buy Bachmann's "doodlebug" lettered for Seaboard - close enough, even tho' a little too early in era.

Due to the necessarily short trains on my layout, I'm kinda forced to model SAL's locals #66/67 and represent their through freigts as best I can. I'm modelling the same months (mid-June thru mid-July)
when the tomatos and truck vegetables were loaded out in the hundreds of carloads though depending on the power chosen, the years may be 1957-1967. Of course at the same time Seaboard ran a lot of perishable extras north from Savannah, that'll slow down #67's work at the interchange when it happens.

yeah First Coast is new as of 2005 or 2006 as a lease agreement with CSX on old SAL/ACL tracks. I just like the Southern Ry green and white, i think it looks sharp and right at home running through oaks and southern pine
