    Hello All;

Has anyone painted their units in the Southern Pacific (T&NO) "BLACK WIDOW" paint scheme?

    What paint did you use?

Did you use decals for the wings, which ones?

    Any photos would be helpful.

I would like to build a T&NO unit in honor of my Grandfather, whom I am told worked for the RR in Bremond, Texas.

Thanks to all of you for the help, advice and just down right graet reading I've enjoyed on the forum.

The only thing different about the T&NO Black Widow paint scheme from the SP was the three digit engine numbers where the Pacific Lines used four digit. I used Microscale decals to paint these F-7s.

Here are some Kato 1st run F-7's that I updated with low friction trucks. I painted and decaled with Microscale decals. If you notice the "wing" is too long, I think. Otherwise very happy with results. Note the road # 356 that I believe is a T&NO number.

Then there is this one. I know, it is not prototypical, but I just loves BW's.

    F3's Mu'd to SD9 Black Widow

    Carl and all tuned in,

This is awesome. The UP Heritage program needs to see your modern day version of a Tigre Stripe and Black Widow combo.

Here are some Kato F3's Mu'd to a Life Like SD9 in the Black Widow theme. Scenery to be added later. I was amazed...these three run very well together. Sorry, I don't have anything resembling the T&NO however I am told there was little difference between the original SP and T&NO. Cotton Belt on the other hand was Gray and Yellow...for a while.

    Website Found

Perhaps a dollar late and day short. This took a while to find as it's refrence was buried in the wrong file. Leave it to a retired mortician to bury something in the wrong pue.

I have a website to share with Mophead and all tuned in: <http://users.snowcrest.net/photobob/spl35.html>
This site has a number of photos that may help/assist with answering the question.

    Hope this helps.

Now how does one go about posting a website so all you have to do is click on it and you are there?

I think the black widow was the best scheme next to daylight the SP ever had... i have been tossing around the idea for making some black widow F-40's, or some tunnel motors.... its a hard desicion.... i think that GE unit is definately a great unit! I agree with RickH, but i have to admit, the heritage unit definately looks almost looks like a GS-4.. but thats my opinion.
