    Glad to hear it!

I assume the other wheels were recovered too, and suitable justice was meted out, at the end of a short rope from a tall tree!

In order from north to south, there's "yoose guys," "you guys," "you all," "y'all," and finally: "all y'all."

The latter as in "All y'all come 'n get yer supper, 'fore I slop it to the hawgs!"

The saga of the GS-1 continues, here are some images made today :

1st - boiler ready for weathering, will probably be heavy :

2nd - shows my current issue. While fitting shell on chassis (tender) I broke the chassis into where I had made a cut to shorten it back in the beginning. I used JB Weld but I did not bridge the cut with any brass rods or anything to help strengthen the joint. I shall do that now. Live and learn :

This is going to take some time as I am dealing with a wife with many problems. I picked her up off the floor 3 times in 20hrs yesterday. Much better today.

    Be well ,
    Carl

    OOOOOOOOOOOOOPS !!!!!

But I got it fixed. Let the work start again !

I will have to work on the fit of the shell as I filled the drilled/tapped holes with cotton and CA glue. I will have to re-drill and tap after taking off some bumps of glue. Should be a matter of "just do it".

    Be well,

This thread and project are both so old that I probably should start a new thread, but heck I'm old too and can't restart so here is the latest update on this bash job.

1ST, I would like to thank all of you who posted very nice wishes regarding my wife, it has been a long 5 month ordeal. She has been home 4 weeks now and has done extremely well. Let the train work commence:

If you look at the two images above you see how I broke the tender chassis and how I fixed it. Here is an image showing the chassis is primed and ready for black paint :

Here is the loco chassis with motor remounted. I have tested it and it worked OK but I did not have a real good DC connection for the motor :

If ESU ever gets off the pot and supplies some decoders, I plan on putting a LokPilot v5 nano 59826 right above the valve gear on a plastic pad.

Here is the boiler shell just sitting on the chassis to check for "fixes" needed :
It is not sitting low enough for this picture cause when it is down all the way there is very small space between cab/firebox and trailing truck.

Thanks to all for helping me through my wife's issues. Neither of us had experienced anything like her issues as both our parents were gone before they experienced anything like this past 5 months.

    Be well my friends,
    Carl

Looking sharp. I went the concor S-1 route for my GS1. The drivers are too big, but you can’t really notice.

A little more work ( ? ). My LP V5 #59826 came in from Bryan yesterday so I did some "checking" to see how it will fit in the location I was thinking about placing it. Looks real workable. I will only have two feed wires (red/black) coming from tender to the chassis. I will make a small board for the headlight and a resistor and mount it on top of decoder. I think ! Here are 3 images, excuse the tape as I do not want to mount as yet :

Slowly, I shall get there. Be well !

    Alan,

That ESU decoder is 8.0 mm x 7.0 mm x 2.4mm. Being non sound they perform flawlessly.

PS: The badland is cool !

.... and all that they can do....

    Sumner,

You are right, mine is the ESU LP V5 Micro DCC. I have a couple of ZIMO 621's in diesels and they are tremendous. I may be switching more to ZIMO as I am not very pleased with ESU. IMHO, they are concentrating on getting manufacturers to use more of their sound decoders and as a result their retail sales to guys like us are seeing shortages that they blame on chip shortage.

BTW, I saw your above images in another post some time ago, great comparison, thanks.
