Today I added a Video DVD from Charles Smiley to my collection. It's title is your colorful Southern Pacific. I am really enjoying the vintage shots and video footage. Lots of Beaumont Hill. It has a particularly intersting cab ride on the old SDA&E route (Corriso Gorge). It will be a great source for weathering some of the old gray and scarlets. It struck me as I watched that I can no longer just go out by the tracks and wait for something like an SP SD9E or GP9 to go by. The Last model of a SD9 I weathered was inspired right at the rail side. Not any more though seems it wasn't so long ago but time goes on. Now a rare occurance is the passing of old tunnel motors or any GEEPs with SP on it. ANyway I would recomend the video highly to those interested in the SP.
