Hey everyone. I just bought my first DCC decoder equipped locomotive. Being my first, I don't really know how to operate it, but thats not the point of this topic. This locomotive is supposed to be backwards-compatible, does that mean I can hook up the wires from the engine to the tender and run it on DC just like that? Or do I have to remove the decoder? Or is there a separate process all together? Thanks.

Btw, I want to know because at the moment, I don't have a DCC system and I'm still on DC. But I am currently looking at them to upgrade. I just first want to see how my new purchase runs.

You should just be able to hook up the tender and GO! Only caveat is if you have some type of pulse power DC pack in which case some decoders won't play. (and if it's a true dual-mode decoder I don't think this even matters, but don't quote me on that)
