I know that we are all patiently(HA HA!) waiting on the arrival of the Alleghenies, but has anyone gotten the new Bachmann Spectrum 2-10-0 "Russian Decapods"? I just got mine in Western Maryland (class I-1) and it's the first Western Maryland Steamer I own that is prototypically correct instead of being "cookie cutter" in appearance. (i.e. one steamer shell fits all) It's smooth runner and it gives my Big Six a little brother (B&O's 2-10-2)
I also got a 2-10-0, mine is a Frisco line. I went w/STSF because they also share the name of the St Louis w/St Louis-Southwestern. Also I model mainly the western lines and the Frisco stood out because of the doghouse. I am "patiently" waiting for the Allegheny too. I wonder how many have both like we do. The 2-10-0 was ordered in August because I thought it might come out in Sept like the ad said, but a major delay entailed as we all know. My friend has a couple of 2-10-4s and they are pretty big, and I thought maybe the 2-10-0 would be that size, but it is smaller. But as someone said they are smaller because they are built for Russian rails, not American rails, which have more cargo and more frequent shipments. I have not put the decapod in revenue service yet, still break-in, testing period. I was suprised that Model Railroader News ran an Allegheny review and not a 2-10-0 review. But I am glad they did, because it made me feel better blindly ordering the 2-6-6-6 in July. jai
Hey Mike, You need to get a Western Maryland I-2 "2-10-0" then you'll give your Big Six a little brother! The I-1 "Russian" 2-10-0 is a baby brother compared to the I-2 and is tiny compared to the Big Six! HA
