Any one out there know why my programmed N scale GP-35 (DN163A4) digitrax engine goes so slow when it's running? Is this how the decoder is programmed to run? I have a Super Chief Xtra dcc system. I tried to reprogram it many times and it's always the same.....too slow like a switcher????? I'm still pretty new at the whole dcc thing, so if you could help..........I could use same!

Is the decoder meant to be in switcher mode by default? Some decoders are intended for switchers, and can be used in dual service with a CV change. Otherwise, is your track power metered at spec for your system in your scale?

A phone conversation with a tech from the distributor/seller/importer might set you on the right path.

If a loco decoder does not seem to be correct, I reset it to factory specs.
Also, I time the loco to get a realistic speed. This is assuming you have the correct DCC volage on all the tracks.
