Are you talking about 401/16 that was built in 1882 as a short open end coach for the San Joaquine & Sierra Nevada RR? There are drawings and pictures in the Slim Gauge Cars book by Carstens starting on page 80.
yeah... that sounds like it. I was just wondering if there was a better starting point than the MDC combine that I was thinking of using. I don't really feel like doing a complete scratchbuild.
The MDC Combine is standard gauge, therefore about two feet too wide. A lot depends on if you want the early or late version. In 1952 it was rebuilt from a monitor roof to a flat roof. I think the earlier version is the best looking. If you can find a 34' X 8' Combine, all you would have to do is some window work. It had 5 on one side and 6 on the other. I haven't done HOn3 passanger research in about five years, so don't know what is available now.
quote:
Originally posted by foamrr: I was just wondering if there was a better starting point than the MDC combine that I was thinking of using.

Was doing some looking around and came up with this page on modifing the MDC to HOn3. You might want to take a look. MDC to HOn3
Thanks for the link. That is what I was planning on doing if I can't find a kit that is closer to the prototype. I have heard a rumor that Trout Creek (or someone) is planning on making some SPNG cars. Has anyone heard this also? The combine (wishful thinking?)?
