Well, after finding the bad gear on my Climax I tried to fix it by trimming it down. The gears were not meshing properly...one set of teeth mashed together causing the bind. Well, the trim job did not work SO against my better judgement I stole the worm gear from my DC Climax and put it in the DCC Climax. She runs now!! But at the cost of a really nice model. Guess I will also steal the cab and headlight to backdate the DCC model. The DC model will become a shop Queen unless I can find a replacement gear...

Hopefully you can get a new gear from Bachmann? If not, perhaps check out an after market supplier, such as Northwest Short Line: http://www.nwsl.com/

You might also try Hollywood Foundry. They're in Australia, but they are well respected throughout that country and Europe. In an email conversation the owner remarked to me that he doesn't know why, but Americans seem reluctant to order from outside the U.S. Not that his business is hurting. His power chassis kits are great! If you order a full power chassis from him, be sure to let him know if you're going to convert it to DCC, and ask him about isolating the motor.

I would wonder about things such as the exchange rates, and how the value of a dollar has been fluctuating. (Is worth much less these days.) I see posted on his site that he's way behind on processing orders. Which would turn away some folks.

NWSL is world famous for their gears, wheels, etc. So probably come into mind much faster than other sources. No need to go overseas, for what can be had stateside, and is even stocked in some larger hobby shops.
