I'm sure that If I read all the preservation threads, I'd know the answer to this, but as my Southwest Chief made it's way to LA union Station Friday, I saw a steam engine under a tarp in BNSF's Hobart yard. Anyone know the story behind this? Also, It was kinda funny seeing all the preserved Engines and Cabeese as I made my way west. I mean, It's not surprising, but it was kind of sureal in a way.
That's her, I didn't expect a working and restored loco to be sitting under a tarp, but if that's all amtrak will provide....
Boy, that's cheap of Amtrak. All the blue tarps that FEMA provided for us to cover our Katrina-damaged roofs were printed with " F E M A " all over them...! I guess it was good PR....?
This doesn't sound like the best of storage conditions. Hope that site is at least secure from the thieving @$%^* that roam the night. Boxcab E50
