    Darren, do you know the purpose of those apparent extensions to the firebox that partially cover the third main driver? :confused:

    Sorry, no idea...

    The Class D-3a engines (#521-524) are all rebuilds of 1904 D-3 engines (#504-507). So far I don't have any images of these in their D-3 configuration. :(

    The D-3a classes were then rebuilt into Single Cabs in the late 1920's :eek:
