Here's my hang up: IF parent RR's RS3 pushes cars off edge which it retrieved from 'us', for my 0-5-0-ing off layout, now this road switcher does what ? Sit there on it's RR's track near edge and waits for new cars ( from my 0-5-0 ) to pull back through/past Intrchng yard, disappearing back into hidden staging track with them ? OK, but then what ? An 'HO' day, week, month 'passes' and RS now pushes same cars back into the interchng track for 'us' to pick up ? Or does RS dead head or run caboose light back to staging to appear later to retrieve new cars from 'us'? I have no way of 0-5-0ing cars in this hidden staging track as Bill Darnaby would. ( I love his Maumee Route ). Bear in mind this is a point to point RR with live West interchange (where we are now) and half-live ( only our locos are seen up there where our engine house is and a wye sits) at other, East interchange, at highest altitude end of line. I'm trying to depict a bridge-route which, via a switchback, merely transfers cars back and forth from upper to lower interchange, vise versa, with a few on-line industries thrown in the mix. Thanks for following this exhaustive thread.
