What ATSF locomotives would have been common for interchange traffic with the WP in Stockton, in 1975-1982? I was looking at GP7s but I think I read that they were only in Texas. Thanks, Brad
This would have been the era when GP 9's, GP20's, GP 30's, GP35's, SD24's and assorted U boats...all roamed the western end of the Santa Fe Railroad. Most likely the shorter four axled units serviced the WP interchange in stockton. Edited Addition: To further highlight the GP7 that you mentioned. Yes, the first district operated three GP7's TT on top, with boilers to provide head end power for commuter passenger service. There is a website that has pictures of these Zebra Striped motors in an era earlier then the dates you submitted. If I can find it again I will forward it to you. They didn't last long replaced with F units.
There is a William T. Morgan story in a 1978 Rail Classics issue that states that CF7s were used at Mormon. Don't know how long this lasted.
