I am planning to start building a new 6' x 10' railroad and wanted to use the "cookie cutter" method of subroadbed. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how wide this should be from the track centerlines?

    Thanks

Ron .. you didn't say what gauge you are going to use, but, I would think it would depend alot upon what type of scenicing medium you intend to use.
For my HO gauge I cut my subroadbed to extend approximately 3/4 inch on each side of the roadbed. This allows for easy connection of bridges and scenery. I'm sure others here have about as many different methods as there are members of TrainBoard. ;)
In a nutshell .. I would suggest that you try building a short section to your own liking to see if your idea(s) will work for what you have in mind. [IMG] Good luck friend.
