Can anyone suggest an enclosure for the assembled DCC EX system with the WiFi, servo controllers, and LCD screen? The aux motor shield is significantly larger than the Aduino Mega, an off the shelf Mega enclosure will not work. I always enclose bare boards, add strain relief for any wires leading to the board, and external interfaces are female sockets fastened to the walls of the enclosure.
i printed a cattle box car for my dcc++ex system but i do not have an lcd screen. one could be added i think.
There are many cases and variations now. Here is a start for them on our website. I hope to add more along with the print file or links to them. I just saw a variation on the Chesterfield case that added an opening for a display and one above the motor shield LEDs https://dcc-ex.com/reference/accessories/suppliers-cases.html If you don't get enough answers here, post on our Discord.
I have a few you can print. With or without a Pi but none with a display window. Here for the P version shown abovei .... http://1fatgmc.com/RailRoad/3D-Printer-2/page-52.html ... and here for other cases down the index a ways... http://1fatgmc.com/RailRoad/3D-Printer/3D-Printer-Index.html Sumner
some one here or somewhere printed a building that contained all this in that building . Looked like a warehouse or something similar that looked like a pretty good idea too. you could possibly build a building that on the roof might have that display as a bill board type thing........
I haven't seen it but would like to. Sounds like a cool idea with your idea of a display/bill board on the roof , Sumner
Do you have links and images of the the parts you want enclosed. I'm pretty sure my case with or without the Pi can handle the mega, motor shield and WiFi shield. I'm not familiar with what would be used for servo controls in a case with the mega unless it is the modules that are Arduino compatible for 16 channels or something similar. Also displays come in lots of sizes. Can a display be used, as I'm assuming a serial monitor, without having a Pi connected or are you also wanting the case to hold a Pi or something else that could run JMRI? Sumner
