I just found this site and hope to get some direction.

I'm cleaning out my all my model railroading stuff. Lack of room, lack of interest, and it's been sitting around, in storage, for too many years to count. I need suggestions on how to sell this stuff. My son doesn't want it, the wife wants it out of storage, and I could use the proceeds for my other hobbies.

I used to model HO, HOn30, and On30. Lots of scratch built stuff, RTR, and kits. I also have the first 3-5 years, complete I think, of Narrow Gauge & Shortline Gazette.

Ebay seems like a hassle, but a quick way to sell. I can't figure out whether to sell the magazines as individuals, a bigger hassle, by the year, or as one lot. I saw what some of late 1970's issue bring, but have no clue as to these early ones.

Do I take the NIB stuff to a hobby shop? How do you suggest I move the scratch built stuff?

I'm open to ideas. I have no sentimental attachment, but I want a fair price, for myself and the purchaser.

    Thanks

    Welcome aboard!

Sorry to read that you're getting rid of trains! You might just watch eBay for a while. See what things go for. Get an idea or two what peaks interest, what seems to be selling, and for "X" amount.

Magazines are hard to say. Guess it depends upon who is out there. Some you can't give away. Others, there's a market.

BTW- Got any Maine 2 foot Quarterly? :teeth:

On30 is quite popular right now. Seems to be steadily growing. There are some HOn30 fans around! Including myself. Although I'm not really looking for anything.

We have our selling area, the "Yellow Forum." It's free. You could certainly give that a try.

    Best of luck!

    :D

If you have time, swap meets are always a good way to get rid of model rr equipment.

Some hobby shops take collections on consignment. N Scale Supply does this and also buys collections. Check with them on their website. I think it is nscalesupply.com Or you can google their site also.

Folks getting back into the hobby (like me) may be interested in buying directly. Let me know if you would like my e-mail info and we can discuss things further. I will buy from a fellow Trainboard member before i go to a stranger on E-Bay...
