My old buddy Watash suggested that I put up some "Typical railroad day" posts just to stir the pot a bit. Anybody interested?
I've noticed a drop off of activity in the last couple weeks also. (being unemployed I find myself visiting a dozen times a day looking for new content) We usually to see many reply's to the "general everybody contributes" posts like "whats your latest project?" or "what's your workbench look like?" but lately there have been fewer of these type of posts. What makes Trainboard Forums unique is there are many more pictures posted here than other forums. I vote for more of the fun "everybody contributes" posts.
It's that time of year... with Christmas only a few weeks away, I know I have had very little free time. I still manage to visit Trainboard just about every day.
I always enjoy the threads about what people are doing. Inspiration can come from many places. Getting the workbench cleared away. (Yet again. ) Or a neat idea for something that I could add to my empire plans. Boxcab E50
I have just been trying to get on here. My ISP just did some "improvements" to a system that wasn't broke. It is now. Question to anyone who is dial up at about 30K rate: How long does it take you to get on here?
We're kinda busy at this end also. A pair of 5-month old kittens, preparing for Christmas, planning for a master bath enlargement starting the first week of January. Aside from that, things are pretty boring ... what with retirement and all. [ 14. December 2002, 02:23: Message edited by: Hank Coolidge ]
Ive been kind of busy lately too, i manage to get online a fair bit, but am frequently too distracted with other things to be able to post here very much, but i got the time right now cos nothing else is happening
We've been having fun of another sort - stomache viruses! With five children, it takes a while for a bug to work it's way through the family. Besides that, I've been working on upguy's N scale Union Pacific layout. You can see photos at Canyon Mt. Ngineers. I'm not sure if he's updated any photos lately, but we've been keeping him quite busy. (More benchwork! I need more benchwork!... You're the only one doing anything tonite, Bob!... Oh, I see we have guests again tonight. Guess we won't get anything done again... )... Things are moving kinda slowly on my HO switching layout. I need to build a couple kitbashed bridges before I can really run trains, and I'm lacking motivation and inspiration. Also, it's rather chilly in our basement, unless I light the woodstove. I know my boys would really like me to get at least one bridge done! They want to run trains! Pat
I've been sorta busy too, with the shop, and repairs and basic maintenance for all the local guys for their christmas tree displays. PLUS me doing the Fun Run for the Meyersdale Historical Society, which I got a thread for that with pictures in the inspection pit. It makes it tight with time! Anyway, the weather here stinks pretty bad (northeast) and with the sleet ice, freezing rain and snow up to 12 inches, they had cancelled the show tonight, explaining why I'm online right now when I'da normally been in bed sleeping... Once I get through this weekend and all. It'll be all home free! I'll have some spare time to be online more offen!
"BE OF GREAT CHEER FOR WATASH IS HERE !" ITS A GOOD THING I LOOKED IN ON THE "OLD FOLKS HOME" ! Whilest you bored, tired, forlorn, down trodden, and otherwise married retirees are warming your "tooties" at the fireplace, drinking egg nog and complaining, outside in the dead of winter snows, the TRAINS still HAVE to RUN! Starting out on a long bleak run with more snow on the way... Heading into the twilight of a New England winter sunset... Cheer up! Here comes the HOLIDAY SPECIAL !... Yeah "Back when I was a boy, why I remember..." Charging across the plains out of Newton running at 60 miles an hour near Harper, Kansas in the blizzard of 1937 ! And a big steamer was pushing, too. Snow was flying nearly a hundred feet either side ! (My Dad took a movie of him coming toward us. This is a frame he had blown up.) [ 14. December 2002, 09:24: Message edited by: watash ]
WATASH, THAT PHOTOGRAPHER MUST HAVE BEEN BURIED UP TO HIS NECK AFTER THE PLOW WENT PAST HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Help, help! I'm being held off the board by my ISP and low connection rates. As I asked above, how long does it take one to connect at 28-30K? It is unlike you guys and gals not to answer questions. It's taking me about 12 minutes to get to the point where I can reply to a thread, then usually get the 404 and it doesn't post. Help!
Jim, I'm connecting at 53.333 BPS and its doing it pretty fast for dialup. I know those with DSL or Cable and or the T series are connecting twice as fast. But within 30 seconds to one minute I got the Trainboard front page!
Watash ole buddy, You got 'em fired up now... one post from you and the whole site gets excited HE HE HE Gotta love that "Traveling Christmas Tree" though....
