I'm interested in recent photos of ATSF/Santa Fe lettered boxcars still roaming the rails. Let's see what you got! I've not seen much lately with the circle cross logo, just some of the newer plain jane boxes. Here's one I took a couple weeks ago: BX-196, built in 1979 [ December 07, 2005, 09:17 AM: Message edited by: campp ]
Steve, I don't have any pics developed yet, but i have seen a couple or 3 of those running through Perry, OK the last couple of weeks...
I've seen three of them roll through here in the last week and a half. Darned if I didn't have my camera with me.
Here are some of my recent finds. 152098 BX-182 12/18/2004 600855 BX-192 With a roofwalk and hatches to haul perlite 11/26/2004 36703 BX-140 11/77/2004 600764 BX-192 10/17/2004
Wow, the fourth one looks like the company would grateful if the taggers hit it- so that it would at least have some paint hiding the rust! Thank you for sharing the pictures.
Here is a few more 611220 10/2/2004 205783 6/2/2004 146640 12/12/2004 At least it did not get scraped 601501 10/2/2004 601501 Here is the other side. How ever this picture is from 1995.
Just curious- I notice the blackening on it's door. Looks almost like a bit of fire damage? Boxcab E50
Here is one of a car in regular service between Goodyear plants. This is at Gadsden AL a couple of weeks ago, right before spotting it at the plant.
Here is one, unfortunatly on it's last trip. This is on it's way to Progressive Rail, to be scrapped.
Close-up of the old and new emblems, the 'condemned' sticker, and the sprayed out reporting marks/numbers.
Thanks, Jerry! Nice stuff. Sad to see the old cars go to the scrapper, but I guess that's the cycle of things...
Yes, it is sad. Been running alot out of Birmingham at night, but I will keep my eye out for more ATSF boxcars.
