Hey I was wondering if there was a way to throw a kato switch with a light switch and a stander dc pack. Just wondering ,and if there is no way what is a cheap alternative?
Here is a link to one way. http://fiferhobby.com/html/how_to_make_kato_turnout_contr.html Or google this The 751D and 751K ELECTRONIC TURNOUT SWITCHES Trey
Kato Unitrack switches also called turnouts by some can be controlled with a standard dc power pack. I have used the Kato power pack for 20 or more turnouts on my n-scale layout which uses Unitrack. On my layout, I control power to the locomotives with an NCE Power cab; this is dcc. This set up works well for me. The link to Mike Fifer's article offers another solution or answer. He says he wanted a smaller controller than the Kato standard version. He also places the alternate in a diagram of the track plan.
