The Indiana & Ohio spreading some good holiday cheer (ok, so they were switching a tank car and box car) in Mason, Ohio on 12/18/08. Happy Holidays everyone!
Hey Dave, nice photo. I like the intense color of the loco against the dull gray/brown of the surroundings. BTW, the I&O could easily have been "spreading some good holiday cheer". Could easily have been some good old high octane Jamaican Grog in those cars.......arghh:
Great Photo Dave! You capture the essence of everyday railroading. What that humble switch engine is doing is making money for the company. That particular photo reminds me a lot of the West Chicago Branch on the BNSF what with all the "forest" and vegetation growing along it. There are also a lot of industries to switch! The West Chicago Branch is the former Turner Junction Railroad, which is the origin of the C.B.&Q. Very historic. The branch,at its origination in the city of Aurora IL, was also the site of an interchange with the defunct, but very famous 3rd rail interurban line, the Chicago,Aurora & Elgin Ry. CT
