This is a railroad that i worked for and was laid off from back in july 2007. these are some pics of the power we had. there were a bunch of ex conrail b23-7's and this pic shows #3141 an ex family lines engine. there is also engine #1962 a gp10 in the new paint scheme which was going to be replacing these ol GE's. the 1962 had only been on the property a couple of days. it is an ex atsf gp9u

Family Lines patch job... not what I'm used to seeing on shortlines. I don't think I've ever seen that new paint scheme, either. Interesting, if a bit loud.

Nice depot. Does the RR own it? Or perhaps does it have any future in preservation?

i think the railroad had hoped to own it. and i heard they were going to run excursions from it, but some historical society said they would have to restore it first and i think it was going to cost 500,000 dollars. so the railroad never gave in.

Well here is the remainder of my collection of TSRR pics. Better late then never!

These are shots of the derelect yard at Mt. Pleasant, TN. All of these tracks were in terrible shape and should not have been in use. This is a prime example of how shortlines dont take care of their track and dont provide a safe environment to work in.

These shots were taken at the Columbia Wye. This was taken after exchanging trains with CSX, (interchange). The interchange is normally done in the Natco siding just a quarter mile away, but there must have been cars in it at the time.

Just some various shots of the area. The covered hoppers were on both ends of the loco to switch a garbage bag plant. They got hoppers loaded with plastic pellets. the car in front of the engine was going to be pushed into a storage track for some plastic customer and the car behind the engine was for the garbage bag company. The steel cars are at Southwest Ohio Steel (SOS). We would deliver loaded coil cars and they would unload them. The last pic is some of our power sitting in the tiny lawrenceburg siding. All of the sidings on the railroad werent really long. The longest one being at Ashwood, but out of service could probably hold 40 cars. All the other sidings probably could only hold 20 cars.

There wasnt much business on this line and i was laid off from them back in july 2007 when business was really slow. With this recession i cant imagine this line is doing much business, does anyone know this for a fact?

The new locomotives (new paint) but still old junk. These GP10's were to replace the B23-7's. The #1962 was the first one to arrive on property. Something rather amusing was Matt Prince and all the other employees gathered around this engine like it was the pride and joy of the railroad. The only probably was it didnt make for a great lead locomotive since it would not load amps. It only loaded amps when it was a trailing loco in the consist. It would load under its own power sometimes but was not a very reliable loco, more or less a piece of crap.

The other pic is the fuel gauge on the gas tank. You can tell the heritage of it!

    Thanks for the pics.

I was in Mt Pleasant a few weeks ago, but didn't see any of the Geep10's. They still have the old power sitting in that yard, and now they have some KCS 6 axle engines there. There was also a string of garbage cars sitting in the yard. I can't think of where they were going or coming from right now. I saw some MOW equipment with some well cars on the line where it runs along the bypass.

I live near Natco and go there with my little boy so he can see the trains pretty often.

I do know that the auto racks have really slowed down at Saturn.

I know that the 2 stall engine shop at Mt. Pleasant might be being used to rebuild locomotives, cause they hired contractors to run the shop. I dont think the six axles are intended for use on the TSRR cause six axles cannot operate on the line only four axles are permitted to operate. Plus all the switches in Mt. Pleasant are a small frog size. I'm guessing they could be getting into the leasing business or storing these for another patriot rail line.

Good info to know. I'm planning to either prototype or freelance based on TSRR, just because it has a few industries and features for a smallish layout. If you don't mind, I may be picking your brain down the road for operation info, since you've been there, done that.

Another interesting thing about TSRR was i remember they were talking of getting the funds to rebuild the yard in Columbia near Amerigas. This is the four track yard behind the Columbia depot. Just before i got laid off there they were filling this yard with storage cars. its amazing we didnt derail on the old track as the old heads told me the tracks hadnt been used in twenty years.
