I just wanted to thank all of you that took the time to offer suggestions, etc. on my recent G-Scale project, a 4'X32' classification yard. It is finally done (just completed it this morning). It consists of over 200' of track, 16 wide radius switches, and 2 #6 switches (all Aristo Craft .332 brass). This yard will allow for storage of over 150 cars, as well as the ability to provide a passing siding for going between the two loops that will be built in the future (hopefully one will be built this summer). The final things that were done were the installation of black plactic "tabs" over the Aristo Manual switch machines (on the track side and the back of the machine), this was done to prevent the 1/4" ballast from interfering with the mechanical operation. There is no ballast in the switch linkage area. Approximately 600 pounds of 1/4" stone was spread on top of the track and switches, and then brushed and picked so that the operation was flawless. A couple of rainstorms helped settle down the stone, and this morning I covered and brushed in "screenings" to effectively lock in the track. I then wet this down, and it now has the consistancy of Item #4. I have taken pictures, and as soon as I can figure out how to upload them, I will do so. I have track power from an Aristo 10 amp system controlled by a handheld throttle. Again, thank you for all your help.
super yard WoW, storage yard for 150 cars!!I'm going to keep watching and learning from you,I might get out in my yard one day and build something!!Down here I have year round running weather,I'm like you it needs to be set off the ground since my knees don't take kindly to low working areas. Keep us posted!!
Thank you. Trying to figure out how to reduce the size of the pictures I took from 4.5 meg to 55 k without destroying the quality of the picture, so far no luck. Thoughts?
Looking good Looking good pose some rolling stock on track and shoot some, Glad you can now post some pictures:tb-wink:
