Got all the trestles out although a couple had to have the deck removed then the bents. So all three little trestle will be able to be reused on the new layout. Then I removed the mine spur track and turnouts. Next up is to remove the Macie Moly Mine. This scratch built structure is my favorite as it was named after one of my Granddaughters so I will have to be especially careful with this one.

Topped out at around 40 inches of snow last night at at one point it was falling at 2 inches an hour. Went to go out after breakfast this AM to at least get a path to the vehicles and the Big Guy wanted to go out with me. He took one look at the snow and pushed me aside to to come back in. Sat later on the buffet looking out the window watching me up to my waist in the snow keeping the inside safe while I and the Missus were outside.

He has the job of setting on my feet to warm them up when I came back in. Called it quits after two hours and came back in to start extricating the mine from the layout. Looks like a couple of days job. Tomorrow I'll be back at the snow once it warms up some. Only have one vehicle dug halfway out so looks like the mine and the vehicles are going to be several days.

Once we got a dog- free. Believe me free dogs are like free lunches, they don't exist. So I built a dog house for Buster, that was the name we gave him. Buster was what we call a Heinz breed, 57 varieties. Great dog, very sociable and protective of the kids. Long story short, Buster eventually passed away. So now I have a dog house with no dog. So I put an ad in the local paper advertising a free dog house for a medium size dog. On a whim I added the words, "cable ready' (Cable TV was just coming into the community then). Some woman called me and offered me $500 for the doghouse telling me it was just the thing for her 'poochie'. I was tempted but I gave her the doghouse for free. I didn't want to deal with my conscience if I didn't. We got a good laugh over it.

Successfully salvaged the Macie Moly Mine, but it was a bear to get out. Also removed the upper mainline and turnouts. Next up is the resort if I can get my hamds to work. Three days gripping a shovel, and arthritis is complaining. Got both vehicles dug out finally this AM and made an emergency run to the store. The Big Guy and his troops were about to revolt being the tender vittles and the friskies were running low to the point of crumbs. In fact they stole the water wheel to the mill. Once the food was restored the water wheel mysteriously appeared under the dining room table.

The resort is gone now and residing on my workbench prior to packing. Left is still the two sections of backdrop, one already removed. The tunnel track has been partially removed, the rest to be removed with the remaining backdrop. Will spend next week packing and further reducing stuff not needed to hopefully reduce the boxes by a couple that have to be moved.

Once that is done I am going to finally reduce my locomotive inventory in February. I am once again going to offer them here rather than offer them on that auction site. Once the Shays come available I am going to add two more to the roster and I expect that will be the last power I will acquire.

On the ongoing sage of the blizzard of 2016 finally got a team of Bobcats in here and there is a wider lane to get out. And the Big Guy is happy because there is a patch grass now showing in back where he can go out and nibble on. We have to make three bowls of salad we we have some. He likes dark green lettuce.

Where we are moving to only got 8 inches of this crap. More like my cup of tea.

I guess I could now say the end since the shell of Hog Wallow Junction is now in the recycle bin. Of course if I need I train running fix I can always break out and set up my test track with three ovals of track set up on it. On with some serious sorting and packing now.

And the future all boxed up and ready to move. Two big totes have all the structures I will need plus a few more and some scenic materials packed in. The smaller totes have turnouts and track stuff, wiring and etc. ,ballast and turf and trees. One smaller tote has just ships for the harbor.
The car cases have approximately 56 cars in each and a couple I am going to free up when I cull my loco collection again and my passenger car fleet. That will free up the space for some more cars that I have stored in a drawer. I am also getting rid of all my remaining passenger fleet of 70 and 80 foot cars keeping just a small fleet of 40 and 50 cars for local service so that frees up another car box.

Yup this doesn't get touched by the movers. Be just the boxes they would lose or run over with a forklift at the warehouse. It will probably be if the back of the van with about a 100 pounds of agitated felines. Fortunately it is only about a 3 1/2 hour drive.
