I am hearing some criticism, about the Second Edition, of this book. (Nitpickers. [IMG] [IMG] )

I bought the Original Edition, when it first came out in 1980. It was a very limited press run. Which is the primary reason a Second Edition came about. Not to add more content, and thus make people happy. Demand for availability of any copies, brought about this new work.

That being said, I now have this Second Edition in hand. And can see absolutely no reason to complain! This more readily found version, much, much cheaper than that precious First Issue, allows me to store away my original. And use this one for my frequent perusals.

Quality? Side by side, I can see no real reason to complain. Except for those who just like to gripe.

If you do not have the First Edition, buy the Second without fear. Or pay $150-200, and more, when a First rarely appears for sale.

If you have the elusive First, and are happy, I'm glad. Have doubts about the Second? Spend your money on something else. It's your choice. I consider my owning the Second a good choice. And a sound investment.

    Kurt-

Definitely a classic. It's format totally different from anything ever published back then. It's part of the reason I daydream about a time machine.

    Ken,
According to Quantum theory you can only go back to the day the time machine was started. You can go into the future as far as you want, but you can't come back and go past the day you started, simply because the time machine wasn't there then!!!

So if I were to go from today, to the year 2010, I couldn't return to today?

Hmm. That could come in handy. You could wait until the day before a dental appointment. Then skip to the day afterward.... [IMG]

I've always felt that if you look at world history, when someone could imagine an invention, be it light bulb, airplane, microwave, plastics, and more, it's always eventually come true. So, that's why I continue to daydream of traveling back in time. If the mind can conceive of it, it can happen.

    Kurt-

I'd be happy just to go back to the 1960's. Prior to creation of the "Green Monster."

But the 1950's have some good memories for me as well. Better cars. Better people. Better railroading...... Milw electrics. NP steam and diesels. Rayonier steam. And, and, and....
