At least I think it was pretty cool....My friend and I model the LV. And now that I have just finished school it's time to really paint some locos! I've been reading LV books and I've learned a lot about the industry to say the least! Are there any other LV enthusiasts out there? If so, say hi! Is it me or is Life-Like the only company that makes LV locos? Well, this is the end of my first posting here.
Welcome to Trainboard, Black Diamond! IIRC, MRC came out with an HO scale Alco C420 in the gray & yellow scheme. I used to have an LV boxcar from Model Die Casting (was in black & white). Otherwise, it looks like you'll have to paint & decal what you want. Don;t feel too bad- until recently, there were very few locomotives painted in the Frisco's red & white. Now, thanks to Athearn, Walthers and Stewart, Frisco diesels (and a few nice steamers thanks to Bachmann Spectrum) are showing up on the hobby shop shelves. Once again, welcome, and good luck painting- love to see what you have done!
I model in N so I have even less options but it can only get better. I've already painted a couple locos--an RS2 (213) and GP38 (313). I managed to get the different cornell reds close to the prototype even--not bad for my first attempts. As soon as I get my files in order I'll post some of my work. I want to know what you all think so I can improve my work. cheers and thanx for the welcome!
Johnathan, I would like to add my welcome to Trainboard At least when you paint the locomotives yourself, they are unique, instead of just like the ones everyone else has
Welcome to the TrainBoard Johnathan. Trains magazine, June 2002 issue, has a very nice article about "The Late Great Lehigh" on page 36. It has photos of most, if not all of the Lehigh's diesel color schemes. I'm sure that you have read it by looking at the title of your post, but just in case ....
Hi Hank and thanks for the welcome! I have that issue of Trains; what a great article. Those certainly were some of the finest (looking) locos around.
