I just received the latest edition of Scale Rails from the NMRA and they mentioned something you On30ers might like to hear. Some of you may already know of this, and for those who don't get this magazine...read on.

First of all, they say On30 is "one of the fastest growing of the pursuits of model railroading today".

Micro Engineer has come up with four new turnouts in On30. All are #5's and have an angle of 11 degrees, 25 minutes.

By looking at the pictures in the magazine they don't look TOO bad. They've got brown ties but it looks like the rails are brass. (I thought they stopped making these)

I'm surprised that it took this long for them to see the growth in On30.

I've seen the ME turnouts. They look good. Doubt they're brass rails. That would be a death blow to their sales.

I have been getting in to Nn3, lately. It's kind of difficult to find stuff, but some persistence has paid off and I have found some pretty good resources.

One thing I like about it is the room for customization. For some reason, the idea of cutting up a car I just paid $20 for finished does not appeal, but picking up a kit for $10 or $15 and then building it and picking out some M-T trucks and couplers and what have you is rather appealing. I have built some standard gauge cars in N (which I still need to photograph and post in the N forum) and I thoroughly enjoyed it so I now have "the bug."

I make my own turnouts etc so it doesn't bother me that they have not recognized the growth till now:D
Anyhow, thanks for the info Lorne :)
