    Good Day all here

just a bit to introduce myself then to the subject
I grew up in NEPA, tromping around old D&H and O&W railbeds , my family is from Starrucca and Honesdale PA . I was there when the lion replica was moved from the old building on W Park St to the Main st Historical Society building (think I have pics somewhere). I Was a junior conductor on the Stourbridge Line put allot of sweat and some blood into those old Pullman cars each summer . it was/is pulled by BAR BL2 # 54 we aquirred in about '88 or so.
sorry for the long intro now to the point.

You may or may not know that the Wayne Co. PA Historical Society was planning a celebration of sorts on August 8 , 2004 which would include the running of the replica down the rails among other things. the Stourbridge lion was the first steam engine run for commercial use August 1829
the letter of announcing can be viewed here
    http://www.stourbridge.com/htm/lioncent.htm#
I also have it as jpg file but cant figure how to post it
now the last to months the board of Trustees have vote to discontinue the restoration /refurbishment process
sighting ,cost - half of which has been offered by two local business men and would be divided with two other local historical societies , and lack of other than local interest in the project .
If you have any interest in this or are planning to attend please relay your thoughts to :
Director Wayne County Historical Society: wchs@ptd.net

It appears that after giving the initial go a head some trustees are dragging their feet until it will be to late to get the required preparations done .

    Regards, Forest
