Where was that? I know a couple people in Portola that would have loved to get a hold of WP 708 or part out any or all of them.

Sad, indeed! The Yreka Western has recently scrapped out #20, a 1953 SW8. All that remains are the wheelsets.

So many of these "earlier" diesels seem to be slipping away in recent years....

Unfortunately it happens all the time. You could probably buy it for scrap value prior to scrapping, but transportation cost would kill the deal.

I would also suspect that the neighbors wouldn't be too happy with someone having a GP7 in the back yard... :peek:

Port of Tillamook Bay has managed to scrap almost all of their Caddys now.

    It's pretty sad.

That would mean you need better neighbours ;)

What would be the odds that a number of us could convince our wives/significant others to move to some designated suburb somewhere for model rr fanatics ;)
